module 10

well, here i am at the end! There were lots of interesting things to explore in this last module, although it might have to wait until i have more time. I have been using wikis for more than a year now and am still finding new things to do and new ways to stuff up!! The students do seem to enjoy it all, though.

Module 9

I've been using scootle for a while and am the manger for my school so this wasn't new - i do think it's a wonderful resource - i wish there was more money being spent on developing more learning objects.

I'm also a member of facebook so social networking isn't new. I'm not sure about using it in the classroom, and in any case social networking sites are blocked at BCR. I had to get wetpaint unblocked in the middle of a task with my students when it was suddenly defined as a social networking site!

The second life video was interesting but again i am hesitant about using it with my students. They are becoming so open to exploitation through their use of web 2.0 - I really have to sit down and have a think about what i encourage them to do online...

Module 8

Glad to know about Google Reader, although the only feed i'm interested in at the moment is the board of studies - i guess this is much like the email subscription i already have. I might find other things, though.

Module 6

oops - forgot to post a comment about this module.

I use inspiration software instead of the mindmapping - it's a lot more powerful and quite fun to use.

I had a lot of fun with the glog and am trying to think up a good excuse to use it in my science classes... I am getting a bit worried about my student's web footprints, though. Perhaps I should encourage them to start a fictitious on-line personality to use for school, although i am also a bit concerned about suggesting they lie about themselves online??

Module 7

I like the social bookmarking - I can see plenty of possibilities for giving students lists of sites for particular task. The only thing is, I use wikis a lot and I guess i could put the list on that instead and everything would be in one place...

For my own use the bookmarking is great - I have a different computer at home so now all my bookmarks will travel with me wherever i roam.

It would be good if the wiki blog addresses had a column for subject in case we wanted to make contact with other teachers teaching the same subject as us.
